Halls of Residence Boys

Students are provided with individual rooms that include space for a cupboard, a table, and a chair, along with an attached balcony. They have the option to use a cooler or air conditioner for comfort. Daily cleaning services for the rooms are available. Shared toilets and washrooms are located on each floor, with a water cooler in the pantry on most floors. A laundry service is offered by a woman who visits regularly, but students can also buy and use a washing machine on their floor.

• The Nagendra Singh Halls of Residence honor Dr. Nagendra Singh, a notable Judge of the International Court of Justice. He served as Vice-President and President during his career and participated in various diplomatic conferences. His contributions include being an Indian delegate to the U.N. • Amir Ali Halls of Residence honors Saiyid Amir Ali, the first Indian member of the Privy Council. • Radha Binod Pal Halls of Residence is named after the only Indian member of the International Military Tribunal of the Far East. The facilities for boys and girls are similar, with the girls’ hostel located separately for safety, featuring its own entry gate. Both hostels are conveniently close to the mess.

• Meera Bai Halls of Residence honor Meera Bai, a revered Indian saint known for her deep devotion to Lord Krishna. Despite being married into royalty, she rejected societal norms related to family, marriage, and caste, gaining respect for her independent spirit. Her life reflects a struggle between her devotion to Krishna and the societal expectations of her time.

• Gargi Halls of Residence pay tribute to Gargi Vachaknavi, an ancient philosopher and daughter of sage Vachaknu. She is recognized in Vedic literature for her intellectual challenges to sage Yajnavalkya regarding the nature of the soul. Gargi is celebrated for her philosophical contributions and was part of King Janaka’s court, where she engaged in significant dialogues on existence.

• Mother Teresa Halls of Residence honors Mother Teresa, born in 1910, who dedicated her life to serving the poorest in India after feeling a divine calling.
